Shady Nasser joined the Harvard faculty from Cambridge University, where he was Lecturer in Classical Arabic Studies. Prof. Nasser writes and teaches on pre-Islamic and early Islamic poetry, Akhbar literature, and Hadith, with a special focus upon Qur’anic studies, including the text's transmission history, language, and reception in the early Muslim community. He is the author of The Transmission of the Variant Readings of the Qur’ān: The Problem of tawātur and the Emergence of shawādhdh (Brill, 2012).
