Dr. Wilson's research is on affective reading in the later Middle Ages and today. She works on Petrarch, Chaucer, and Middle English devotional culture; her book in progress also discusses affective reading strategies in modern fan communities, particularly fanfiction. She is also interested in queer theory and the history of sexuality, critical race theory and the history of race, pedagogy in the humanities, the digital humanities, digital cultures, and fan communities and cultures. She has been published in Speculum, Exemplaria, and Transformative Works and Cultures, and was the 2022 recipient of the Felicia Campbell Innovative Contributions to Popular Culture Studies Award.
