The Committee on Medieval Studies Ph.D. Thesis Prize

The Committee on Medieval Studies awards an annual prize in the amount of $1250 to the best Ph.D. thesis on any topic in Medieval Studies. Students in all graduate fields at Harvard University are eligible for consideration. All theses submitted during the calendar year 2023 are eligible for nomination. Faculty are asked to submit no more than two theses from each graduate program. To nominate a thesis for consideration, please provide the following information:

1. The nominee's name, graduate program, and thesis submission year;

2. The nominee's current email address;

3. The title of the nominated Ph.D. thesis;

4. A one- to two-page letter of recommendation, describing the thesis's contribution to its field(s) and indicating why it is deserving of special recognition by the Committee on Medieval Studies.

All nominations are due no later than Friday, 10 November 2023, and should be submitted to the chair of the Medieval Studies Curriculum and Student Affairs Committee, Sean Gilsdorf, at gilsdorf@fas.harvard.edu. Nominees will be contacted and asked to provide the Prize Committee with a 500-word thesis abstract and a complete copy of the thesis (in .pdf format) before Monday, 20 November 2023.
