Medieval Studies professor named visiting professor at National Gallery of Art
Jeffrey Hamburger, Kuno Francke Professor of German Art and Culture, will serve as the Kress-Beinecke Professor at the National Gallery of Art's Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts during the 2019–2020 academic year. During his tenure, Hamburger will work on his forthcoming (2021) Panizzi Lectures for the British Library, as well as on Imperial Splendor, an exhibition of manuscript illumination in the Holy Roman Empire from the reign of Charlemagne to that of Emperor Maximilian I scheduled to open at the Pierpont Morgan Library and Museum in 2021.
