Susanne Zwierlein’s research addresses the political, intellectual, and literary history of medieval Europe, focusing in particular upon diplomatics, manuscript studies, and vernacular literature from the Carolingian period through late medieval times. Her interests include the historical auxiliary sciences, the relationship between politics and literature, and diplomatic editing. She was a collaborator on the new MGH critical edition of the diplomata of Louis the Pious (Harrassowitz, 2016), and is the author of Studien zu den Arengen in den Urkunden Kaiser Ludwigs des Frommen (814-840) (Harrassowitz, 2016). She currently is preparing an edition of a fifteenth-century vernacular miscellany of sermons and mystical treatises from the convent of Nazareth in Geldern.
