# Stephanie Leitzel Department of History B.A. (History and Medieval & Early Modern Studies), University of Michigan ![sleitzel.jpg](/sites/g/files/omnuum3586/files/styles/hwp_4_5__480x600/public/medievalstudies/files/sleitzel.jpg?itok=eCnx0D16) email Stephanie Leitzel entered the History program in 2015, and currently is a Ph.D. candidate. Her scholarly interests revolve around the social and economic history of Europe, with a particular focus on Italy and the global connections of the Mediterranean in the medieval and early modern periods. She is primarily interested in issues of pre-industrial economic transformation. Stephanie graduated with Highest Distinction and Highest Honors from the University of Michigan in 2015, with a B.A in History, and minor in Medieval and Early Modern Studies. She is a Beinecke Scholar and has previously studied at the American Numismatic Society in New York and at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
