Shady Nasser joined the Harvard faculty from Cambridge University, where he was Lecturer in Classical Arabic Studies. Prof. Nasser writes and teaches on pre-Islamic and early Islamic poetry, Akhbar literature, and Hadith, with a special focus upon Qur’anic studies, including the text's transmission history, language, and reception in the early Muslim community. He is the author of *The Transmission of the Variant Readings of the Qur’ān: The Problem of* tawātur *and the Emergence of* shawādhdh (Brill, 2012).
