Merih Danali Cantarella is a doctoral candidate with research interests in late Byzantine art and cross-cultural exchanges between Byzantium and Islam in the later Middle Ages. Currently she is writing a dissertation on "Negotiating Self-Representation and Identity: Artistic and Cultural Responses to the Byzantine-Ottoman Encounter (ca. 1300-1453)."
