Craig Tichelkamp is a doctoral candidate at the Divinity School, who studies Christian thought in the West from late antiquity to the early modern period. Craig’s dissertation explores the interplay of interpretation and mysticism in thirteenth-century commentaries on the Song of Songs and the corpus of Pseudo-Dionysius by the Augustinian canon Thomas Gallus. In a future research project, Craig hopes to study the changing attitudes toward literal and spiritual interpretation of the Bible in the late medieval and Reformation periods in order to better understand the theological roots of modernity
