Charles Donahue is a scholar of the common, canon, and Roman law traditions in medieval Europe. His work focuses in particular upon the law of property and marriage in England and the continent; among his many publications are *Select Cases from the Ecclesiastical Courts of the Province of Canterbury, c. 1200–1301* (Selden Society, 1981) and *Law*, *Marriage*, *and Society in the Later Middle Ages*: *Arguments About Marriage in Five Courts* (Cambridge University Press, 2007).
