Amy Hollywood's research ranges from the history of medieval Christian mysticism to the broader philosophical conception of enthusiasm and the mystical within the European tradition. She is co-editor, with Patricia Beckman, of the *Cambridge Companion to Christian Mysticism,* and author of *The Soul as Virgin Wife: Mechthild of Magdeburg, Marguerite Porete, and Meister Eckhart* (Notre Dame Press, 1995) and *Sensible Ecstasy: Mysticism, Sexual Difference, and the Demands of History* (The University of Chicago Press, 2002).
