Alexander Riehle is a scholar of Byzantine literature whose work addresses epistolography, rhetoric, performance and gender. He is the editor of *A Companion to Byzantine Epistolography* (Brill, 2020) and has co-edited three further volumes: a collection of essays on late Byzantine history and culture in honor of Franz Tinnefeld (*Koinotaton doron*, De Gruyter, 2016), *Epistolary Poetry in Byzantium and Beyond. An Anthology with Critical Essays* (Routledge, 2021) and a Festschrift for Albrecht Berger (*Anekdota Byzantina*, De Gruyter, 2023). His first monograph comprises an edition with translation and literary-historical analysis of the letter-collections of the late Byzantine aristocrat Nikephoros Choumnos (De Gruyter, 2023). He is currently working on a history of women’s writing in Byzantium.
