DESCRIPTION:<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: 10pt;">A two-day symposium. Keynote address by <a href="http://www.hist.cam.ac.uk/directory/dsa1000@cam.ac.uk" target="_blank">David Abulafia</a> (Cambridge University) on Thursday, 6:00 pm, Sackler Auditorium, with panels at Sackler Auditorium on Friday morning and afternoon. Followed by a handling session on medieval coins at the Harvard Art Museums, and a closing reception and concert at First Church Cambridge featuring Natasha Roule, the Hellenic College Byzantine Choir, and Sephardic music ensemble <a href="http://www.voiceoftheturtle.com/" target="_blank">Voice of the Turtle</a>.  <span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: 10pt;">Co-sponsored by the <a href="http://maryjahariscenter.org/" target="_blank">Mary Jaharis Center for Byzantine Art and Culture at Hellenic College Holy Cross</a>, the <a href="http://www.doaks.org/" target="_blank">Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection</a>, and the <a href="http://haa.fas.harvard.edu/" target="_blank">Department of the History of Art and Architecture</a>, with additional support from the Harvard Provostial Fund for the Arts and Humanities.
