SUMMARY:Medieval Studies Interdisciplinary Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Medieval Studies Interdisciplinary Workshop presents a hands-on medieval book-binding workshop, led by Kate Rich, Katherine Gray, and Terri Messina of the Harvard Library Preservation Services. Participants will learn how to produce a fifteenth-century link-stitch binding. Using original materials of parchment, wood and bone, you will make a book in a simple, elegant style popular among late medieval students and scholars. Soon, you may be cutting quills and writing your dissertation by candlelight! All tools and materials will be provided. Space in the workshop is limited, and priority will be given to Harvard graduate students. To reserve a place, please RSVP to Eleanor Goerss (<a href="mailto:goerss@g.harvard.edu">goersse@g.harvard.edu</a>).
