*Reading Older Scots: An Introduction.* Led by [Alice Gibson](https://sgsahresearch.com/portfolio/alice-gibson/) (University of Glasgow/University of St Andrews), this brief foray into medieval Scottish literature will introduce participants to one of the most enduringly popular texts from the so-called 'Golden Age’—William Dunbar's *Tretis of the Tua Mariit Wemen and the Wedo,* a satirical debate on whether men and marriage are really worth the trouble. We will cover some of the basics of reading Older Scots (no prior knowledge required!), before having a go at some extracts from poem itself. Refreshments will be provided!
