The Spring seating of the Medieval Studies graduate Latin translation exam; successful completion of this exam satisfies the language proficiency requirement of the graduate secondary field in Medieval Studies.

In light of the current closure of the Harvard campus, this offering of the exam will be a virtual one. Registrants will be sent the exam text via email at 9:55 am on the morning of 17 April; upon confirming receipt, they will have 90 minutes to complete their translation and return it via email. Those taking the exam will be asked to sign an affidavit, confirming that they have completed their translation with the help of only one printed or online Latin dictionary.

If you would like to register for this semester’s exam, please email Sean Gilsdorf by Friday, 10 April. More information, including sample texts, can be found on the Medieval Studies website. Please note that the secondary field's language requirement also may be fulfilled by translation examinations in Greek, Arabic, or Hebrew. If you would like to be examined in one of these languages, either this semester or during an upcoming one, please contact Dr. Gilsdorf as soon as possible.
