*Blurred Boundaries: Defining "The West" in Medieval Studies*: a panel discussion exploring the variety and complexity of "western-ness" in medieval European, Middle Eastern, and Eurasian societies, and how notions of "west" and "east" were assumed, maintained, and transgressed across the medieval world. Chaired by [Stephen Mitchell](https://folkmyth.fas.harvard.edu/people/stephen-mitchell) (Harvard University), with presentations by [Allen Fromherz](http://history.gsu.edu/profile/allen-fromherz-3/) (Georgia State University), [Catherine McKenna](http://www.celtic.fas.harvard.edu/cmckenna.shtml) (Harvard University), and [Charles Stang](https://hds.harvard.edu/people/charles-m-stang) (Harvard Divinity School). Preceded by the Fall welcoming reception of the Committee on Medieval Studies (4:00-5:00 pm).
