Donald Ostrowski is a scholar of the political and social history of medieval and early modern Russia, and chair of the Early Slavists Seminar at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies. In addition to co-editing the authoritative version of the Russian Primary Chronicle (Povest' vremennykh let) (Harvard University Press, 2004), Dr. Ostrowski is the author of Muscovy and the Mongols: Cross-Cultural Influences on the Steppe Frontier, 1304-1589 (Cambridge University Press, 1998) and co-editor (with Marshall Poe) of Portraits of Old Russia: Imagined Lives of Ordinary People, 1300-1725 (M.E. Sharpe, 2011).
